The quality of source code control has a huge impact on the quality of the eventually built software. That’s why we work with innovative and highly reliable source control tools. Visual Studio Team Foundation Server (TFS) is the Microsoft product for source code control, reporting and project tracking. The source control repository is called Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC). With this product, a wide variety of reports can be created. For example, the rate of code change over time or a list of bugs that don't have test cases.
On a per-project basis, TFS also creates a SharePoint site for the project, thus integrating source control and project management tasks. We use TFS, TFVC, and the included build server Team Build a lot in Microsoft development projects. In other software development projects, and always in consultation with our customers, we often work with tools like Subversion and CVS (Concurrent Versions System).
