Onguard, a leading provider of order-to-cash solutions, has taken an important step toward long-term sustainability by modernizing its existing platform and migrating it to the public cloud. With the support of dedicated DevOps teams from NetRom, the company has reduced Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and improved cash flow for its customers. At the same time, it has established a scalable platform that can grow in line with increasing demand for innovative credit management software.
Challenge: scalable platform and talent shortage
For Onguard, which focuses on companies with annual revenues starting at €50 million, it was essential to make its software scalable to handle increasing complexity. The company serves more than 30,000 business users across 700 organizations, including Aon, Schiphol, and Lloyds Bank.
The primary challenge was to modernize the platform architecture and migrate to the public cloud, while attracting sufficient development capacity in a tight labor market presented an additional complication.
Solution: cloud transformation while preserving functionality
For the modernization and cloud migration of its platform, Onguard has been working with NetRom Software for many years. In Romania, two to three DevOps teams from NetRom Software support Onguard in various roles, including maintenance and support, user interface renewal, and code modernization as part of the transition to the public cloud. The teams operate in both blended and dedicated team setups and contribute to products such as CreditManager, a credit management solution that automatically assesses risk factors and monitors outstanding invoices.
“In the beginning, NetRom Software worked largely independently, but today the collaboration is much more integrated,” recalls Tim Blok, CTO of Onguard, reflects: “NetRom developers now join customer calls directly when technical questions arise. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated this shift, as remote collaboration became standard practice.”

The collaboration with NetRom Software has enabled Onguard to successfully complete its cloud migration and develop a future-ready platform. Improved scalability and API integrations now allow Onguard’s customers to manage their order-to-cash processes more efficiently. The CreditManager solution helps companies shorten the cycle time of outstanding invoices and improve cash flow predictability.
